Our Pastors

Kevin Blue has been on the pastoral staff team at Church of the Redeemer since its beginning in 2003, and has served as lead pastor since the fall of 2008.  Kevin grew up in Los Angeles, and began his involvement in ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in the Los Angeles basin in 1987.  Since then, he has also served nationally as a teacher, trainer, and consultant for various church and parachurch ministries.  Much of this work has revolved around leadership development in the Church as well as economic and cultural concerns within the Church and in the world.  He has authored two books Faith on the Edge (co-authored) and Practical Justice, both published by InterVarsity Press. Kevin also serves as a senior staff and director of internships for Servant Partners, a mission agency committed to church planting and community transformation in urban poor communities.  He’s married to Jennifer Blue, and has two children.  Jennifer is a staff member with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and serves on the teaching team and cell group leaders’ team with Redeemer.

Carlos De La Roca is from Guatemala, married with 5 children, and 3 grandchildren.  He works in construction, and is also currently a seminary student at Centro Hispano de Estudios Teologicos (C.H.E.T.) in Bell Gardens, CA.  Carlos graduated from the preministerial program at his seminary, and continues to study there for ongoing ministry training.  Carlos' wish is to serve the Lord, and he does so by serving as our associate pastor, and leading our Spanish speaking congregation on Saturdays.

Elliot Ling became youth pastor at Redeemer in the summer of 2009 and has served in the youth ministry since 2005.  He moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college in the Bay Area to participate in an urban poor church planting internship with Servant Partners and has been in South Los Angeles ever since.  His wife Sarah is a special education teacher and is passionate about serving children with disability.  She also leads a cell group at Redeemer while serving on the church board - thus in an indirect way, is Elliot's boss as well. It seems to be working out fine.
