Weekly Announcements: 10/11/15

 1. Richard Hume Memorial Service: A memorial service honoring the work of God in the life of Richard Hume will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 2:00 PM. The service will take place at LA First Church of the Nazarene (3401 W. 3rd Street, 90020). More details, including how to help, will be coming soon.

 
2. Congregational Meeting: congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, October 18, from 2-4 PM at Adventures Ahead (1438 W. Jefferson Blvd., 90007). Childcare and translation will be available. 
 
The main purpose of this meeting is to receive an update on Church of the Redeemer’s ministry and operations over the past year. A written annual ministry report is available online or at the hospitality table at church.

3. School Choice Workshops: A presentation about applying for magnet schools* will be offered at the Science Center (multipurpose room) on October 14 at 4:00 pm. Another workshop on this topic will be held (date TBD) at Adventures Ahead. 4. Harvest Carnival: The Harvest Carnival is just around the corner (Saturday, October 31)! Have ideas to make this year's event better than ever? Want to help turn those ideas into reality? Email your thoughts and questions to lauren@redeemercp.org.  
 
Donate a bag of candy (or 2!) to the Harvest Carnival! Every Sunday until 10/31, you can drop off your candy donation at church in a designated area near the back tables.
 
 
5. Reading Buddies Needed: It's not too late to sign up to become a Reading Buddy for an Adventures Ahead student! Just one hour a week Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between the hours of 3pm and 6pm.  Email lauren@redeemercp.org for more information.

Baptism Sign-Up: If you are interested in being baptized, or want to learn more about baptism and explore whether this might be the right next step of faith for you, please sign up at the hospitality table this Sunday to receive information about classes to be offered this fall. Weekly Announcements: 9/25/15

 1. Retreat Savings Program: Thanks to all who have started saving for next year’s church retreat through our Retreat Savings Program! If you are not participating in the program through your home fellowship, the next opportunity to make a deposit at church will be this Sunday, September 27. You can turn in your deposit at the RSP table in the back immediately following service.

2. Workshop on Nonviolent Resistance and Change with Rev. James Lawson
Date and Time: Saturday, September 26, 2015 (9:00 am to noon)
Location: Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd, LA
RSVP not required. Refreshments will be served.
 

3. Prop 47 Record Change & Resource Fair: With the passage of Proposition 47 in November, Californians now have a limited-time opportunity to remove from their criminal records certain felonies that can be barriers to jobs, housing and more. A free event is being held this Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm at Exposition Park (Figueroa & Exposition Blvd.) to assist people with this process and offer information on other services (health care, employment, housing, re-entry, immigration, etc.).

4. Christmas Cantata: The International Youth Fellowship will be presenting a performance of The Gracias Christmas Cantata on Sunday, October 4 at 7:00 pm at the Shrine Auditorium (665 W. Jefferson Blvd., LA). A limited number of free (first come, first seated) tickets will be available at the hospitality table at church this Sunday.
