Weekly Announcements: 1/15/15

  1.  New Testament Read-Through -- Online Discussion Forum! If you didn't have a chance to pick up a reading guide at church, a PDF version is available here. The online discussion forum for the New Testament Read-Through is now live at www.redeemerla.org/forum/. We'll be able to share our thoughts, inspirations, prayers, questions, and whatever else comes to mind as we read through the New Testament together.

    If you prefer, you will be able to login simply using your Facebook account. Basic instructions for gaining access to the forum are provided on the site. Questions can be directed to Nathan.
     

  2. Care packages for Jen, Kyle, and Liz: Local to Global is putting together care packages to send to Jen Chi Lee, Kyle Apuna, and Liz Heim, who are serving as missionaries in South Africa and Thailand. We'd love to bless our friends with pictures, cards, notes, artwork, comfort foods, and any other gifts you'd like to send. Remember to keep things compact, as we're mailing these internationally. Please give all items to Amy Kimbel no later than January 25.
     
  3. Local to Global Committee Seeking New Members: Our church's blossoming missions committee is welcoming new members. We meet once every three months over a meal to vision for growth for our church in the area of international missions and global partnerships. There is a very low time commitment to being a Local to Global member, and all are welcome to join. Please contact Jared W. if you're interested.
     
  4. Study Skills Seminar: The FRC group will be hosting a "Study Skills" seminar on Wednesday, January 28th, at 6:30 pm at Adventures Ahead. Childcare and translation will be available. There will even be a raffle at this event! Plan to attend and/or invite neighbors. A flyer is available here; we will also have copies of flyers at church at the hospitality table.   5. Prayer Walk on February 21st: Please join us on the morning of Saturday, February 21st, as we begin our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting with a prayer walk around our community. More details will be coming soon. If you are interested, please sign up here or at church on Sunday. Please contact Jessica L. for more information.

Weekly Announcements: 1/2/15

  1.  Our New Testament Read-Through Is Underway! If you didn't have a chance to pick up a reading guide at church, a PDF version is available here. For quick reference, this week's readings (1/1 and 1/2) are chapters 1 and 2 from the Gospel of Matthew. Next week (1/5-1/9), we'll be reading Matthew 3-7.

    Plans for an online discussion forum are still in the works, so stay tuned for more information about that. In the meantime, we can enjoy doing things the "old-fashioned" way by talking with one another in person, over the phone, or by email about the daily readings and what we are learning from them.

  2. Retreat Savings Program: The next opportunity to make a retreat savings program deposit will be at church this Sunday, January 4th. For more information about the savings program, please speak to your home fellowship leader or contact Alexis.

Weekly Announcements: 12/18/14

  1.  Annual Church Slideshow - Pictures Needed: On Sunday, January 4, 2015, we will be showing a slideshow to reflect on 2014. If you have pictures of Redeemer life that you would like to share, please send them to Dennis. Please send them no later than December 22. Thank you!
     
  2. Redeemer will be reading through the New Testament in 2015! If you are interested in participating in this daily Scripture reading program, you can pick up a guide at the hospitality table after service on Sunday. The guide is also available online. For more information, contact Alexis.

Weekly Announcements: 12/11/14

  1.  Christmas Lunch + Christmas Musical: This Sunday will be our annual Christmas Lunch at Mack Elementary following service. King's Kids, our children's ministry, will be performing their Christmas Musical during service as well! It's sure to be a good and joyful time. If you are able, please sign up to bring food and/or help with set-up or clean-up. Sign up online or with your home fellowship leader.
     
  2. Shoe Donation Opportunity: Hi Redeemer family. It's that time of year again when our Redeemer kids bring you the Good News of our Savior's birth through their 3rd annual Christmas Musical. This year's musical is titled "Christmas Shoe Tree." It's all about using the feet God has given each of us to spread the Good News of Jesus' birth and using our hands to serve by collecting new and lightly worn shoes to send around the world to kids who need shoes through Soles4Souls. So, on Sunday, Dec. 7-21, our kids will be collecting shoes. Please consider making a shoe donation for kids up to 16 years of age. Contact Christal for more information.

Weekly Announcements: 11/28/14

1. Retreat Savings Program: Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not be collecting retreat savings program deposits on the last Sunday in November. The next opportunity to make a retreat savings program deposit at church will be on Sunday, December 7. For more information about the savings program, please speak to your Home Fellowship leader or contact Alexis Spencer-Byers.

2. Youth Group Christmas Caroling Fundraiser: Hire the youth group to go to your friend's house and sing Christmas carols to them! We'll do the singing/caroling on Friday, December 12th between 7:30 and 8:45 pm. Donations will help send youth to our annual Winter Camp. Sign up online or at the back table on Sunday.   1.  RCP Benefit Dinner Volunteer Orientation: The RCP Benefit Dinner is quickly approaching. If you signed up to volunteer, please remember that we will have an orientation on Sunday, November 16, from 1-2 pm (right after church) at Adventures Ahead (1438 W. Jefferson Blvd.). If you still want to help or have any questions, please talk to Alex Shippee.
     
  2. RCP Benefit Dinner on Saturday, November 22 @ 6 PM: There is still space! Bring a friend to enjoy a delicious meal, gallery, and program celebrating God's work in our community, all sponsored by the generosity of USC. Register online here by November 15.
     
  3. Interested in Joining a Sunday Service Ministry Team?: The Sound Board team and Propresenter presentation team are both in need of more volunteers on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in joining the Propresenter presentation team, please contact Dennis Chao. If you are interested in joining the Sound Board team, please contact Candice Carr.
     
  4. Thanksgiving Potluck Sign-Up: It's that time! Our church's Thanksgiving lunch is Sunday, November 23, at Mack Elementary after service. Please sign up to bring a dish here: Thanksgiving Signup Sheet.

  1. Harvest Carnival - Volunteers Needed: Light the Night 2014 is now just one week away!  Thanks to the 22 people who have signed up so far to volunteer for the Harvest Carnival...but it's going to take a lot more than that to staff the booths, so remember to sign up today!   2. Harvest Carnival - Candy Needed: Bring a bag of candy (or two!) to donate towards the Harvest Carnival.  Donations can be dropped off at church on Sunday.  Look for the donation box near the hospitality table.  CURRENT CANDY COUNT: 8 bags.

  3. Harvest Carnival Outreach: This year’s Harvest Carnival is rapidly approaching! If you are interested in being involved with prayer and evangelism at the carnival and/or if you want to participate in follow-up efforts after the event, come to church at 8:30 AM this Sunday, October 26th to prepare together. For more information about at-event outreach, contact Daniel Taylor. For more information about post-event follow-up, contact Jonalisa Ware.

  4. Retreat Savings Program (RSP) Reminder: Thanks to all who have begun saving together for our all-church retreat on May 29-31, 2015! If you are not participating in the retreat savings program through a home fellowship, the next opportunity to make a deposit at church will be this Sunday, October 26. You can turn in your deposit at the RSP table in the back immediately following the worship service.

Weekly Announcements: 10/9/14

  1. Fall Congregational Meeting: Our fall congregational meeting will be held on:
    Sunday, October 19, from 2-4 PM
    at the Irvin/Johnson residence (1524 W. 36th Place)
    to receive an update on COR's ministry over the past year.

    A written annual ministry report will be available on Sunday, October 12. (Click here to access the report online--English and Spanish versions available.)

  2. Fellowship of the Word (Adult Discipleship opportunity): We will begin a five-session study of the book of Nehemiah, led by Pastor Kevin, on October 26, 2014 (2-5 PM). If you are interested in participating in the study, please sign up at the hospitality table at church on Sunday or contact Alexis Spencer-Byers.
     
  3.  Harvest Carnival Happenings!
  • 3 weeks left until Light the Night 2014! The Harvest Carnival will take place Friday, October 31, from 5-8 PM, but there are many ways to get involved. Use the following link to see when and where your time and talents can be used to bless families from our neighborhood. Please sign up as soon as possible!   • Bring a bag of candy (or two!) to donate towards the Harvest Carnival. Donations can be dropped off at church starting this Sunday. Look for the donation box near the back hospitality table.
  • Need a yellow Light the Night t-shirt? Sign up this Sunday at the back table or email Lauren. T-shirts will be $5 each. We will only order for people who sign up!
  1. Harvest Carnival Outreach: This year's Harvest Carnival is rapidly approaching! The Harvest Carnival is our church's largest annual outreach opportunity and is a great way to meet and interact with neighbors.

    If you are interested in being involved with prayer and evangelism at the carnival, come to church at 8:45 AM on 10/26 to prepare together or contact Daniel Taylor.

  1. Harvest Carnival Planning:  There are 4 weeks until the Harvest Carnival! This year, October 31 falls on a Friday. If you have ideas about how to make this year the best one yet, email Lauren at with your thoughts or suggestions.
  2. Retreat Savings Program Update: Our Retreat Savings Program is underway! Approximately 30 individuals and families have begun participating in this effort to save together toward our 2015 retreat costs and ensure that as many people as possible are able to attend the retreat. If you have not yet signed up for the program, please speak with your Home Fellowship leader or contact Alexis Spencer-Byers for more information.

Weekly Announcement: 9/26/2014

  1. Retreat Savings Program Reminder: The Retreat Savings Program starts this week! Everyone who plans to attend next year’s retreat (May 29-31, 2015) is encouraged to participate in this program. (Participation is required in order to qualify for partial scholarships.) 
     
    Home Fellowship leaders will be collecting deposits each week at HF meetings. If you are not in a Home Fellowship, you can sign up for the program and make your first deposit this Sunday, September 28, at church. (Visit the RSP table at the back of the auditorium immediately following service.)

  2. "How to Be Involved in Your Child's Education" Seminar - October 1stRedeemer Community Partnership and the Family Breaking Chains Group are joining together to host this education seminar for parents.  It will be on Wednesday, October 1st at 6:00 pm, located at Adventures Ahead.  Please talk to Eugenia Jeanette Cruz if you would like to know more information.  Flyers will be available at the church hospitality table.
