Weekly Announcements: 6/18/15

  1.  Skype Prayer Time for Kyle Apuna and Liz Heim, Tuesday, June 23, at 8 pm: Come join our church's missions committee, Local to Global, as we pray for former members of our church, Kyle Apuna and Liz Heim, who are currently serving as missionaries in Bangkok, Thailand. We'll hopefully be able to see and speak with Kyle and Liz over Skype. The prayer time will take place at the Warner home. For more information, contact Jared.

Weekly Announcements: 6/11/15

  1.  Graduation Sunday - THIS SUNDAY, June 14: We will be taking time during our Sunday worship service on this upcoming Sunday, June 14, to celebrate all of the students in our church family who have just finished a level of education. We will have our graduates come up to the front and share what level they have completed. It will be a great time to celebrate the academic achievements of those in our community!

Graduation Sunday - June 14: We will be taking time during our Sunday worship service on June 14 to celebrate all of the students in our church family who have just finished a level of education. Weekly Announcements: 5/28/15

All-Church Retreat: Our church retreat begins tomorrow! We are looking forward to seeing what God will do among us as we spend time with Him and one another this weekend!

If you are not attending the retreat, please note the following:

 
1) There will be no Saturday (5/30) or Sunday (5/31) Church of the Redeemer services in Los Angeles this weekend. Please take this opportunity to visit another local congregation or to spend time resting and worshiping God in other ways.
 
2) You are also encouraged to read through the book of Ruth this weekend and consider what God might have to say to you personally, and/or to our community, through this portion of the Scriptures.
 
3) We will miss you this weekend and look forward to seeing you on June 7!


If you are attending the retreat, please note the following:

1) Registration begins at 3:00 at Cedar Lodge. Dinner is served at 5:30 (food will be available until 7:00), and the evening session begins at 7:00. If you arrive after 7:00 pm, please sign children in with Kids' Camp staff at Cedar Lodge. Adults and youth should proceed to the Chapel. (Late registration will be held at the Chapel following the evening session.)
 
2) A packing list, directions to the camp, and a map of the campus can be found here.
 
3) If you haven't already done so, please read the first chapter of Ruth before the Friday evening retreat session.
 
4) Contact Alex or Stephanie with any questions about transportation/directions. Contact Alexis or Christal with any other retreat-related questions.

Weekly Announcements: 5/21/15

  1.  All-Church Retreat (May 29-31, 2015): Our retreat is coming up in just 8 days! If you have registered for the retreat, you will be receiving information about what to bring, etc. by email in the next few days. You may also pick up a copy of the packing list at the hospitality table at church this Sunday.

    The teaching at this year's retreat will be based in the book of Ruth. If you are attending the retreat, please read at least the first chapter of Ruth ahead of time (or plan to spend a few minutes doing so at camp on Friday afternoon). If you are not attending the retreat, you are also encouraged to read Ruth over the weekend and consider what God may have to say to you personally, and/or to our church community, through this portion of the Scriptures. For those who prefer to read online, follow these links to read in English or Spanish.)

    Please contact Alexis or Christal if you need more information about preparing for the retreat.

    ** Please note: There will be no Church of the Redeemer Saturday (5/30) or Sunday (5/31) services in Los Angeles during retreat weekend. **
     

  2. Church retreat transportation / Transporte para el retiro de la iglesia: Home Fellowship Leaders and those not in a home fellowship group, please fill out this survey so we can make sure everyone has a ride to the retreat! If it's easier you can alternatively use this spreadsheet instead of the survey.

Weekly Announcements: 5/7/15

  1.  Last Chance to Register for Redeemer's All-Church Retreat (May 29-31, 2015): Our church retreat is just around the corner! If you haven't already registered, your final opportunity to do so is at church this Sunday, May 10. (Note: May 10 is also your final opportunity to receive a full refund of your savings deposits or registration fees if you are no longer able to attend the retreat.) If you will not be at service on the 10th, or if you have questions about registration or scholarships, please contact Alexis or talk to your home fellowship leader.

    The retreat officially begins with dinner on 5:30 on Friday evening (5/29). If you have a flexible schedule, please consider leaving LA around 1:00 or 1:30 on Friday afternoon to avoid traffic, get settled into your room, and help other arriving families get situated. Stay tuned for information about how to get to the camp, what to bring with you, and how to participate in a carpool.
     

  2. Volunteer for Adventures Ahead's Bridge Program: Help a child meet his/her reading goals in this last month before school lets out. Sign up for a 30-minute afternoon session once a week for the next 4 weeks. Contact Lauren for more information.
     
  3. Congregational Meeting: A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, May 17, from 2-4 PM (location TBD). Childcare and translation will be available. Please RSVP to Alexis if you will need childcare.

    At this meeting, we will vote on our budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal year and on nominees for leadership positions.

    We also invite parents of graduating 5th graders to attend so that you can meet our staff and other parents!

  3. Mother's Day Card Fundraiser: The Youth Group has partnered with Jeannette for a fundraiser to sell handmade Mother's Day cards! They will be available for sale after service this Sunday, May 3rd! The suggested donation is $10.

PSWC Celebration Worship Service: The Pacific Southwest Conference of the Covenant denomination will be hosting a Spanglish Worship Service featuring the musical trio, Promissa, with Marco Ambriz preaching (Spanish/English). The service will be held tomorrow (Friday), April 24, at 7:00 PM at Pasadena Covenant Church, 539 North Lake Avenue, Pasadena (** please note location change **). All are welcome, and there is no cost to attend. For more information, please contact Pastor Carlos.
     
  2. All-Church Retreat, May 29-31, 2015: Our all-church retreat is just over one month away! Please note:

    * We will be collecting registrations at services on Sunday, April 26; Sunday, May 3; and Sunday, May 10.

    * The cost of the retreat this year is $135 for adults and youth (13 and older) and $105 for children (3-12). These amounts include a registration fee of $40 for adults (18 and older) and $20 for children and youth (3-17). There is no cost for infants (0-2) to attend the retreat.

    * The registration deadline is May 10, and everyone who plans to attend the retreat must register, even if you are already enrolled in the Retreat Savings Program.
     

  3. VIVE College Day, hosted by North Park University:

    There will be teaching and seminars about overcoming obstacles to get to college, college and career strategies, and financial aid and scholarships. There is also a special track for parents!

    In particular, we need help from parents who can provide rides!

    * We will be collecting registrations at services on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 26. (We will also have registration days in May; stay tuned for those specific dates.)

    * The cost of the retreat this year is $135 for adults and youth (13 and older) and $105 for children (3-12). These amounts include a registration fee of $40 for adults (18 and older) and $20 for children and youth (3-17). There is no cost for infants (0-2) to attend the retreat.

    * The registration deadline is May 10, and everyone who plans to attend the retreat must register, even if you are already enrolled in the Retreat Savings Program.
