Weekly Announcements: 12/11/15

 1. Christmas Lunch + Christmas Musical:  This Sunday, December 13th will be our annual Christmas Lunch at Mack Elementary following service. King's Kids, our children's ministry, will also be performing their Christmas Musical during service. It's sure to be a good and joyful time!  If you are able, please sign up to bring food and/or help with set-up or clean-up for the potluck.  Sign up here online.

 
2. Youth Group Looking for Work Project Opportunities: Hire the youth to help you or a friend with chores around the house! We can clean, organize, garden, or run errands for you! Available date: 1/16/2016Donations will help send youth to our annual Winter Camp. Sign up online or contact Grace for more information.
 
3. 2016 Covenant Ministry Update: The Evangelical Covenant Church's 2016 Mission and Ministry Report: Moving the Needle is available online in both booklet and video form. Click here to view or download the report and learn more about the work of God in and through our denomination.

Weekly Announcements: 12/03/15

 

1. Christmas Lunch + Christmas Musical:  Sunday, December 13th will be our annual Christmas Lunch at Mack Elementary following service. 2. Human Sexuality Seminar POSTPONED: Our human sexuality seminar (originally scheduled for 12/5) is being postponed and will be rescheduled early in 2016. Thanks to those who have expressed interest in participating in this discussion, and apologies for any inconvenience/confusion!

4. Retreat Savings Program: Thanks to all who have started saving for next year's church retreat through our Retreat Savings Program! If you are not participating in the program through your home fellowship, the next opportunity to make a deposit at church will be this Sunday, December 6. You can turn in your deposit at the RSP table in the back immediately following service.

By way of a reminder: Our 2016 retreat will be held at The Oaks Camp & Conference Center, from Friday, May 27, through Sunday, May 29. The cost for adults and teens is $145; the cost for children ages 3-12 is $115.

 1. Thanksgiving Potluck & Testimony Sunday: Our church's Thanksgiving lunch will be held this Sunday, November 22, at John Mack Elementary after service. If you haven't already signed up to bring a dish, please do so here: Thanksgiving Signup Sheet. Whether or not you are able to contribute a food item, please join us for lunch after service!

This Sunday, we will also have an extended testimony time during our worship service, with a focus on sharing things we are thankful to God for. Please be thinking about whether there is something on this theme that you would like to share with our church family.

3. Human Sexuality Seminar: Redeemer will be holding a seminar on the topic of Human Sexuality on Saturday, December 5, from 12-5 pm (location TBD). If you are interested in attending this seminar, please sign up at the Hospitality Table on Sunday morning or contact Alexis.


4. All-Church Retreat: Our 2016 All-Church Retreat will be held at The Oaks Camp & Conference Center in Lake Hughes, CA, from Friday, May 27, through Sunday, May 29The cost for adults and teens will be $145; the cost for children (3-12) will be $115. (There is no charge for infants.) 

Everyone who plans to attend the retreat is encouraged to participate in our Retreat Savings Program(participation is required to qualify for scholarship assistance). If you have not yet begun saving, please talk to your home fellowship leader or Alexis to get started. We look forward to retreating together next spring!

2. LAUSD Choices Applications Due November 13th: Parents are encouraged to submit a Choices application for each of their children in grades 2 through 8, unless they already attend a magnet school. There is no cost to apply and doing so early will help your child have more options when they move up to middle school or high school.  Application forms and information packets are available on Sunday mornings at the Welcome Table or online here. Talk with your home fellowship leaders, our church pastors, or Anna Parks if you want help with the online form or advice about where to apply.  This online guide is also very useful:  http://www.parentpick.com/blog/everything-you-want-to-know-about-lausd-magnet-schools/. Please also consider reaching out to classmates and neighbors with this critical information!

Weekly Announcements: 10/30/15

 1. Harvest Carnival: The Harvest Carnival is almost here! It is this Saturday (tomorrow!), October 31, on Raymond Avenue between 29th and 30th Streets. The event will run from 5pm-8pm, but there will be plenty of opportunities to serve before and after as well!

  • Volunteer Check-In Station will be at 2908 Raymond Ave. Stop by here first as soon as you arrive!
  • Set Up begins at 2pm, Clean Up begins promptly at 8pm - anyone is welcome to come early and/or stay late to help in these areas!
  • If you ordered a t-shirt, it will be waiting for you at the volunteer check-in station.
  • Don't forget to bring a little $$ for dinner! $1.00 tacos will be available.

Weekly Announcements: 10/22/15

 1. Richard Hume Memorial Service: A memorial service honoring the work of God in the life of Richard Hume will be held this Saturday, October 24, at 2:00 PM. The service will take place at LA First Church of the Nazarene (3401 W. 3rd Street, 90020). Childcare and translation will be provided. The service will include a time for testimonies/stories about Rich, so please consider whether there is something you would like to share (two minutes per person). 

Flowers may be delivered to the church after 10:30 AM on the 24th. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, Ellen suggests the following organizations:
A refreshment time will follow the service. If you would like to provide a dessert item or beverage, or if you are interested in assisting in other ways, please contact Alexis.
 
 
2. School Choice Workshop: A brief (30-minute) workshop on choosing a middle school will be held immediately following worship this Sunday, October 25, at Mack Elementary. An informational handout is available online or at the hospitality table on Sunday.

 
3. Harvest Carnival: The Harvest Carnival is just around the corner (Saturday, October 31, 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Raymond Ave)! 
  • If you haven't done so already, please bring a bag of candy (or 2!) to church this SundayCurrent Candy Count: 45 bags!
  • We need lots of warm, welcoming people who can sign up for a 30-minute shift at the Welcome Table and help people fill out our spiritual interest survey. If this sounds like you, email lauren@redeemercp.org.
  • Fliers will be available on Sunday. Take as many as you want to pass out to friends and neighbors!
 
4. Retreat Savings Program: Thanks to all who have started saving for next year’s church retreat through our Retreat Savings Program! Donate a bag of candy (or 2!) to the Harvest Carnival! Every Sunday until 10/31, you can drop off your candy donation at church in a designated area near the back tables.
 
 
5. Reading Buddies Needed: It's not too late to sign up to become a Reading Buddy for an Adventures Ahead student! Just one hour a week Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between the hours of 3pm and 6pm.  Email lauren@redeemercp.org for more information.
