Neighborhood Cleanup Event, Saturday, Oct 6, 9am-12pm

Meet at the parking lot of Food4Less at Western and Jefferson

Redeemer is partnering with our local Neighborhood Council (NANDC) and Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) to host a Jefferson Blvd cleanup event. We'll be picking up trash, reporting graffiti with 311, weeding, and power washing Jefferson Blvd from Western Ave to Vermont Ave. It's a big area to cover in one morning, so we'll need all the able and willing hands and feet of our neighbors to make it happen! Water, snacks, and tools will be provided. Contact Niki if you have any questions - niki@redeemercp.org

Sunday Morning Ministry Opportunities/Urgent Staffing Needs
We thank God for the ways he has been providing needed volunteers for our Sunday ministry teams.  There are still a few teams in need of more staffing (see list below).  Please prayerfully consider joining a ministry team if you are not currently serving on Sunday mornings, or if you are able to add another ministry team role on Sunday mornings. If you need assistance finding a place to serve or getting in touch with a ministry team leader, please see Lisa Placenti at church or email her at lisa.placenti@sbcglobal.net.

Sunday Morning Ministry Teams With Urgent Staffing Needs:
Set-up team:  1 assistant needed
Set-up Team unloads items from the church truck for our nursery, children’s and youth ministries and worship ministry, as well as sets up chairs and prepares the auditorium for our worship service. Team members also re-load the truck with the items after service. Besides another assistant, occasional extra hands would be helpful from 8:00-9:00 a.m. with setting up chairs, and from 12:15-1:00 p.m. with getting items back to the church truck.

Presentation team:  2 volunteers needed
Presentation Team members format the slides that will be used for the upcoming Sunday morning service and manage the changing of the slides throughout the duration of the Sunday worship service.  Training is provided.

Nursery ministry team: 2 monthly volunteers, plus 1-2 quarterly volunteers
Nursery ministry team members care for and play with the youngest ones in our church family.

Weekly Announcements 7/31/17

1. Resources from Prayer & Worship Night: If you missed the First Contemplative Prayer & Worship Night, but want to learn more about Contemplative practices, please find attached a quick guide about Breath Prayer in English and Spanish.  This is the exercise we practiced as a community.  If you have questions about Breath Prayer, feel free to contact Sharon.  Stay tuned for a Second Contemplative Prayer & Worship Night, where we will get to practice more!

2. "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied" Community Action Day : We've recently marked the 400th day since our community filed with the City for nuisance abatement at the Jefferson Drill Site. Nearly six months have passed since the public hearing in January and still the City has not issued a determination in the case. We are also far beyond the two months promised to the community specified in the City's municipal code for a determination. A press conference is being planned for the morning of Saturday, August 19 to call on the City to stop delaying justice for our community. All of the details are TBD at this point but we will keep you updated with more details. Please contact Niki for questions.

3. Back to School Service & Potluck:  Our Back to School Service & Potluck is coming up on August 13.   Please join us in celebrating our students and teachers at our Back to School service and potluck.  To help with planning, sign up at the back table or online to bring a dish or to help with set-up or clean-up.  We would love to bless our church family and any visitors with an abundance of food, so please bring a good quantity as you are able.   Warmer pans will be available next week if you plan to bring something that needs to stay hot.  Looking forward to celebrating with everyone!
